Cockroaches, mosquitoes, flies, rats, termites, ants ? these are pesky pests I hate seeing inside the house. They come in all sizes, and mind you, they come in armies.

I like doing cleaning errands in the house although I only have the time during weekends. I also have this notion that a house reflects the personality of its owner so I make it a point to never leave a mess behind.

With the six insects I mentioned in this article, the least harmful for me are the very social ants even though I hate their stings. But with formers, they can pose serious threat to health.

Insects are part of the ecosystem. There is no way to annihilate them because they like breeding everywhere all the time. But even so, what we can do for the part is to prevent them from damaging our valuables, which they seem to like and unintentionally pest us.

I can see roaches from afar trying to hide their procreation, I can hear the mosquitoes buzzing in my ears at night, flies and ants want a piece of my snack, I can see the rodents swimming in the trash bin and I can smell the termites feeding on my plants and woods. Urgh! Disgusting!

The best way to deal with insects is to prevent them. Here are some simple tips I am doing to fend them off (in random):

? I make sure that there are no cracks or holes in my walls so insects can freely enter the house, and same thing on the ceiling ? I check up on my piping system under my kitchen and bathroom sinks, and laundry area ? including underneath my washer and dryer ? I keep everything in the basement and the attic organized and minimal. ? Insects are attracted to food so do not leave any uncovered food out on table, countertops or just anywhere but the refrigerator ? Always clean food or beverage spills promptly ? Keep garbage bins or bags sealed tight; in relation, I don?t let food-related garbage sit around for so long ? If you can kill insects, step on it (not unless you pay homage to them as a god) ? For rodents, I use peanut butter instead of cheese as bait ? I constantly inspect my furniture and fixtures. I found out that rats like staying inside cabinetries. ? I use highly effective sanitizing products and professional pest control supplies that are not harmful to the environment and my health. I have trusted insect killers at home, which I use on instant insect sightings. ? I don?t treat my house as a recycling facility. I segregate my waste between biodegradable and non-biodegradable and properly discard it in the dumpster at night. ? And lastly, I schedule insect and pest control services every week.
