Northeast Analytical Wins an EPA Contract to Provide Analytical Services for Lower Manhattan (WTC) Indoor Dust Test and Clean Program
Schenectady, NY (PRWEB) July 18, 2007 -- Northeast Analytical, Inc. (NEA) is pleased to announce a contract award by the USEPA Headquarters and Region II for the analysis of wipe samples for Lead and Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs). NEA has been selected to process and analyze 6,000 wipe samples for PAHs and Lead.
"We are very proud and honored to be part of this important program underwritten by EPA. NEA is a unique small business for this program with our proximity to NYC and our capabilities in high sample throughput" said Robert Wagner, President and Founder of NEA.
"As with all of our programs, NEA is committed to providing the right answers. This is especially true for this project since it involves the people of the City of New York who have been through so much since 911." said Ann Casey, NEA's Marketing and Program Development Manager.
The events of September 11, 2001 witnessed the destruction of the WTC site that turned into an acute environmental disaster. Residential and business spaces of lower Manhattan in the vicinity of the WTC complex were impacted with dust, debris, and smoke following the attack. There was concern that contaminants, such as Lead and PAHs could have been associated with the dust that settled in specific areas of NYC. Since they have potential to cause health problems, EPA has closely monitored these and other contaminants in the air at the WTC site itself and in the surrounding area in the aftermath of the attack.
EPA's Lower Manhattan Indoor Dust Test and Clean Program, was announced in January of 2007. The program will cover lower Manhattan and will allow residents and building owners to have the air and dust in their structures tested for contaminants associated with dust from the collapse of the WTC. The testing program for interior spaces began in the spring of 2007.
NEA is a full-service laboratory specializing in high resolution PCB analysis and offering other analytical services, including: Pesticides, Herbicides, Metals, Volatiles (VOCs), and Semi-Volatiles (SVOCs) analyses. There is only one job at NEA, to provide the highest quality analytical testing available anywhere. Each analysis performed is a goal achieved for us, the customer, and the future of the environment.
